How do I pay?

We offer several convenient payment options to make your booking process hassle-free:

  • Cash: You can pay in cash at our location upon arrival for your tour or rental.
  • Credit or Debit Card: We accept all major credit and debit cards, providing you with a secure and convenient payment experience.
  • PayPal: If you prefer using PayPal for your transactions, you can easily make payments through your PayPal account.
  • Payment Link: For added flexibility, we can also provide you with a secure payment link via email or text message. Simply follow the link and complete the payment process online.

What's the cancellation policy?

At Shell Adventures Tours, we understand that plans can change unexpectedly. Therefore, we have formulated a soft cancellation policy to provide flexibility and convenience to our valued customers. Below are the details of our cancellation policy:

  • Cancellation with 24 Hours Notice: If you need to cancel your reservation, we kindly request that you provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled tour or rental start time.
  • Refund Process: For cancellations made with the required 24 hours’ notice, we will provide a full refund of the booking amount. Refunds will be processed using the original payment method within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Rescheduling Option: Alternatively, if you prefer to reschedule your tour or rental for a later date, we are more than happy to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled tour or rental start time may result in forfeiture of the booking amount. However, we understand that certain circumstances are beyond your control, and we will handle such cases with empathy and understanding.
  • Contact Information: To cancel or reschedule your booking, please contact our customer service team at least 24 hours before your scheduled tour or rental start time. You can reach us via phone, email, or
    through our website’s messaging system.

What will the weather be like?

Our location is in the tropics, close to the equator, and considered a rainforest
country with warm temperatures throughout the year. Costa Rica has two welldefined seasons:

  • Dry season from December to April
  • Green season from May to November.

Rainfall, which is typically warm, occurs mainly in the afternoon or evening, particularly on the Pacific coast.
We experience a brief dry spell in the middle of the year, typically in late July and early August when precipitation significantly decreases for 3-4 weeks. The rainiest months are September and October, particularly in the South Pacific region.

What happens if I have a medical emergency during the tour?

At Shell Adventures, the safety and well being of our customers are our top priority. In the event of an emergency during the tour, especially if it involves an accident where the customer has not acted recklessly and has followed all our instructions and regulations, we have special measures in place to ensure immediate and appropriate attention.

Our private insurances and proximity to private hospitals allow us to respond promptly to any emergency that may arise during the tour. From medical care to emergency transportation, we are prepared to act effectively and provide the necessary support in critical situations.

What about tipping/gratuities in Costa Rica?

Tipping or gratuities are not included in our rates. In Costa Rica, it is customary to tip between 10% to 20% of the tour fee, depending on your satisfaction with the service provided. These gratuities are a gesture of appreciation for our hardworking guides who strive to make your experience memorable.

You are always welcome to give your tips directly to our guides at the end of the tour. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and goes a long way in supporting our team’s dedication to providing exceptional service.
